When to use it
Useful for converting a HEX color from a design tool into the RGB or HSL format a particular piece of code expects, or for finding the HEX equivalent of a color you were given as RGB.
HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) is convenient when you want to keep a color's hue while only adjusting how light or dark it is.
How to use
- Enter a value in the HEX, RGB, or HSL field, or pick a color with the color picker.
- The other fields update immediately to match.
- Use "Copy" next to a field, or "Copy as CSS," to use the value.
Accepted formats
Also reads shorthand 3-digit HEX (#f80), 8-digit HEX with opacity (#ff880080), and space-separated syntax such as rgb(0 128 255 / 50%). The RGB and HSL fields also accept just the numbers, like "0, 128, 255."
FAQ
- Can it convert to CMYK?
- No. Print CMYK values depend on the paper, ink, and color profile being used, so they can't be calculated with a simple formula.
- Is what I enter sent anywhere?
- No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser.
