About this tool

Detects the delimiter (comma, tab, or semicolon) automatically when you open a file.

Values are kept exactly as written, so a leading zero in a ZIP code or member number, or a date-like value, is never silently changed.

Supports editing cells, adding and deleting rows and columns, sorting by a column, find and replace, and undo.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our server.

When to use it

Useful when a CSV looks garbled in Excel, or a ZIP code or member number loses its leading zero, and you need to check or fix the content without corrupting it.

Good for light edits before importing into another system or accounting software: fixing a few values, removing rows you don't need, or adding a column.

How to use

  1. Drop a CSV file onto the box, click to choose one, paste text, or click "New table" to start from a blank grid.
  2. Double-click a cell, or select it and press Enter, to edit it. On a phone, tap a selected cell again to edit it.
  3. Select a cell and use the toolbar buttons above the table to insert or delete rows and columns, or to sort.
  4. Choose a file format (delimiter and encoding) and click "Save CSV". You can also save it as an Excel (xlsx) file.

Keyboard shortcuts

Arrow keys and Tab move the selected cell. Typing a letter or number starts overwriting the selected cell. While editing, Enter confirms and moves down, Tab confirms and moves right, and Esc cancels.

Press Alt+Enter while editing to insert a line break inside a cell. Delete clears the selected cell, and Ctrl+Z (⌘+Z on Mac) undoes the last change.

FAQ

Can it handle a large CSV?
The table only draws the rows currently visible on screen, so you can scroll and edit even with a large number of rows. How large a file you can open still depends on your device's memory.
Can I edit it full screen?
"Edit full screen" expands the table to fill the screen. "Exit full screen" or Esc returns to the normal view, keeping your edits.
Does sorting use numeric order?
Values that read as numbers are sorted by magnitude; everything else is sorted alphabetically. Blank cells are always sorted last, whether ascending or descending.
Opening it in Excel shows garbled text. What should I do?
Choose "UTF-8 with BOM" when saving, which Excel reads correctly. Saving as an Excel (xlsx) file avoids the issue entirely.
If I save as Excel, do leading zeros stay?
Yes. Every cell is written out as text, so leading zeros in ZIP codes or phone numbers are preserved.
What happens if I close the page without saving?
If you have unsaved changes, your browser shows a confirmation before closing the page. Edits are never saved anywhere automatically, so save before you close.
