About this tool
Nested objects are flattened into column names like parent.child. Arrays are kept as a JSON string inside a single cell rather than expanded.
Converting from CSV treats the first row as the field names.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our server.
When to use it
Useful for taking a JSON response from an API and turning it into a CSV you can check or total up in Excel.
Also useful for turning a CSV you maintain into JSON to pass to a program or an API.
How the conversion works
Converting JSON to CSV flattens nested object fields into column names such as parent.child. Array values are not expanded; they are kept as a JSON string in a single cell.
Column order follows the order fields first appear in the data. If different objects have different fields, a missing field is left blank.
If the JSON isn't valid, the tool reports that it couldn't be read.
FAQ
- Can I convert a single object instead of an array?
- Yes. A single object converts to a one-row CSV.
- What happens if the first row of the CSV isn't a header?
- This tool always treats the first row as the field names, so a file without a header row will have its first row of actual data used as field names instead.
