Time Calculator Free
Calculates hours worked from a start time, end time, and break, or adds, subtracts, and totals times like 1:30.
If the end time is earlier than the start time, it’s treated as ending the next day.
Enter it as 1:30, 1h30m, or 90m.
About this tool
Shows the result three ways — hours and minutes, H:MM, and decimal hours (such as 1.5 hours) — and each one can be copied.
If the end time is earlier than the start time, it's treated as an overnight shift ending the next day.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our server.
When to use it
Useful for calculating the hours worked in a day from a clock-in time, clock-out time, and break, including an overnight shift that ends the next day.
Also useful for adding up work-log entries to get a weekly total, or subtracting time already used from a budget.
How to use
- Choose "Work hours," "Add & subtract," or "Total."
- Enter a time or times — accepted formats include 1:30, 1h30m, and 90m.
- The result appears immediately, shown as hours and minutes, H:MM, and decimal hours; copy whichever format you need.
What are decimal hours?
Decimal hours express time as a decimal number, such as 1.5 hours for 1 hour 30 minutes. This format is convenient for calculating hourly pay or totaling time in a spreadsheet. Minutes are divided by 60 and rounded to two decimal places, so 25 minutes becomes 0.42 hours.
FAQ
- Can it calculate seconds too?
- You can include seconds in a time, like 1:30:20, but the result is shown rounded to the minute.
- Is what I enter sent anywhere?
- No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser.
