Password Generator Free

Generates random passwords made up of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Characters to use

About this tool

You can choose the length, which character types to use, and how many to generate at once; characters that look alike, such as 0/O or 1/l, can be excluded.

Passwords are generated using your browser's secure random number generator and are never sent or stored anywhere.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our server.

When to use it

Useful for creating a strong password for a new account, or several at once when setting up multiple accounts or temporary credentials.

How to use

  1. Enter the length and how many passwords to generate.
  2. Choose which character types to use; if you include symbols, you can change them to match a particular site's rules.
  3. Press "Generate" to create new passwords, and copy whichever one you need.

What makes a strong password

Password strength mainly depends on length and the variety of characters used, and length matters more — aim for at least 12 characters, ideally 16 or more.

Reusing the same password on multiple sites means that if one site is breached, the others are at risk too. It's best to use a different password for each site and keep track of them with a password manager.

Reading the strength estimate

The number of "bits" shown is an estimate of strength: b bits means roughly 2 to the power of b possible passwords for a brute-force attack to search, based on the character types and length you chose. Each additional bit doubles the number of possibilities.

FAQ

Is a generated password sent or stored anywhere?
No. It's created in your browser and is gone once you close the page.
Will every character type I selected actually appear in the password?
Yes. At least one character from each selected type is guaranteed to appear, so the password still meets a rule such as "must include at least one symbol."
