Image Cropper Free

Crops out just the part of an image you need, with the option to lock the selection to a ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9.

About this tool

Drag to select the area, or enter exact values for X, Y, width, and height. Locking a ratio keeps the selection at that shape while you resize it.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our server.

When to use it

Useful for cutting out just the part you need from a screenshot or photo, or for getting an image into a specific ratio — for example 1:1 for a profile picture or 16:9 for a presentation slide.

How to use

  1. Drop an image, or click to choose one (one file at a time).
  2. Drag over the image to select the area to crop, or enter exact values in the X, Y, Width, and Height fields below.
  3. To lock the crop to a ratio such as 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, or 9:16, choose it from the buttons above.
  4. Check the preview, then click "Save" to download the cropped image.

Cropping with a locked ratio

Choosing any ratio other than "Free" switches to resizing with just the four corner handles; the edge handles are hidden, since dragging just one edge would break the ratio you chose.

FAQ

It is hard to line up a precise area on a large photo.
Click "Edit full screen" to display the image as large as the screen allows. Your selection carries over, Escape exits full screen, and you can also enter an exact pixel value in the X, Y, Width, and Height fields.
Can I crop several images at once with the same area?
No. This tool processes one image at a time, so cropping several images to the same area in a single pass is not supported.
What format is the cropped image saved in?
The same format as the original image — JPG, PNG, or WebP.
My photo looks rotated on my phone — will the crop account for that?
Yes. The image is automatically rotated to match its embedded orientation (EXIF) before you crop it, so the selection matches what you see.
