QR Code Reader Free
Reads a QR code from an uploaded image, a pasted screenshot, or your computer's camera.
Hold the QR code inside the frame. It stops automatically once it’s read.
This URL does not open automatically. Check that it’s the one you expect before opening it.
About this tool
Besides choosing a file, you can scan with your camera, or copy an image and paste it (Ctrl+V, or ⌘+V on Mac) directly into the page.
If the decoded content is a URL, it isn't opened automatically — you can check it first, then open it.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our server.
When to use it
Useful for reading a QR code shown on a computer screen or received as an image by email, without needing a phone.
Also useful for checking that a QR code you created scans correctly before printing it.
How to use
- Drop a QR code image onto the page, or click to choose a file. You can also copy a screenshot and paste it with Ctrl+V (⌘+V on Mac).
- To scan with a camera instead, press "Scan with camera" and hold the QR code up to it.
- The decoded content appears; copy it, or, if it's a URL, check it and open it.
If it can't be read
An image where the QR code is too small, blurry, or partly cut off may not be readable. Try an image where the whole code, with some margin around it, is large and in focus.
FAQ
- Is the image or camera feed sent anywhere?
- No. Reading happens entirely in your browser.
- If I scan a URL, does it open right away?
- No, it doesn't open automatically. A QR code can point to a malicious page, so check the URL that's shown, then press "Open this URL" if it looks right.
