"Increase or decrease a number by percent" returns the number after adding or subtracting the percentage, along with the difference.
How to use
- Enter numbers into whichever of the four calculators you need.
- The answer and the formula used appear immediately.
"Percent" vs. "percentage points"
A difference between two percentages is measured in percentage points. For example, if support rises from 40% to 50%, the difference is 10 percentage points, while the percent increase is 25% (10 ÷ 40). Entering 40 and 50 into "Percent change from one number to another" gives 25%, so use whichever one answers your actual question.
FAQ
- Can the result be over 100%?
- Yes. If the number you're comparing is larger than the base number, the result is over 100% — for example, 300 is 150% of 200.
- Is what I enter sent anywhere?
- No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser.
